TWO men forced their way into a home in Widnes with hammers before threatening residents with a machete.

Police were called followed the incident on Greenwich Avenue at 7.40pm on Saturday.

Now they are looking for witnesses.

After forcing their way into the house, the pair threatened the occupants inside with a machete before fleeing and getting into a black car on Kensington Road.

The car then sped off in the direction of Camberwell Park Road.

One of the men is described as white, of a slim build and 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing dark clothing with a hat or head covering and a face mask.

The other man is described as white, of a stocky build and 6ft 2ins in height. He wore a grey tracksuit and a hat or head covering and a face mask.

An investigation is currently under way and police are asking the public to come forward with information, CCTV or dash cam footage to assist with their enquiries.

DS Roberts, from Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “We believe this incident to be targeted and are following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances.

“As part of the investigation I am asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to get in touch.

“While we conduct house-to-house enquiries and review CCTV footage in the area I am appealing to anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to make contact with us.”
