WELL here is a collision in the making - very much a case of the immovable object meeting the irresistible force.

With Saints playing Widnes tomorrow it is a good enough reason to display this pictorial pearl.

Saints' Chris Arkwright may be giving away a stone or two against Widnes' burly Kiwi enforcer Kurt Sorensen - but he is already homing in for the challenge.

Arkwright was a tough skipper, who led by example, and who never took a backward step.

But he has a challenge there, given Sorensen was one of the toughest players in the competition - and not bad at slipping the ball, too.

This shot is from the Premiership Trophy semi final game in May 1989 at a packed Naughton Park.

The Chemics won 38-14, catching a Saints side still licking their wounds from the 27-0 Wembley debacle.

And the League Champion Chemics went to beat Hull FC 18-10 in the final at Old Trafford in front of a 40,194 gate.
