A DRIVER managed to escape their car uninjured after it set on fire in Runcorn last night, Monday.
At around 10.30pm firefighters attended the scene at Northwich Road, Whitehouse Industrial Estate, where they found a Vauxhall Vectra which was well alight.
The driver of the vehicle had been able to escape the car uninjured.
The crew closed the road as a precautionary measure while one firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
A farmer then helped to remove the vehicle from the carriageway, while firefighters cleared the debris so the road could be reopened.
Firefighters were detained at the scene for around 80 minutes.
