THIEVES have stolen essential groundskeeping equipment and tools from Widnes Cricket Club.
The break-in occurred at the Farnworth club on Saturday evening between 8pm and 9pm, and among the items stolen are petrol lawnmowers and generators.
Cheshire Police says it is investigating the incident and is appealing for those with CCTV of the Beaconsfield Road area to come forward.
A tweet from the force’s Farnworth Police account said: “Unfortunately, there has been a break in reported by Widnes Cricket Club and petrol mowers have been stolen.
“Patrols were made aware of suspicious activity on Saturday evening at 8.34pm, with three males and a red possibly Nissan car seen.
Unfortunately our garages where broken in to last night with several pieces of essential grounds equipment and tools where taken including mowers and generators. “Can you please check CCTV, especially around 8pm to 9pm, and call 101 referencing crime number 21000097126.”
In a separate tweet, Widnes Cricket Club said: “Unfortunately, our garages were broken into last night with several pieces of essential grounds equipment and tools taken, including mowers and generators.
“If anyone has any information, please contact us. Cheshire Police has already started an investigation.”
