POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery at a Post Office in Widnes.

The branch on Widnes Road in the town centre was raided shortly after 5pm on Monday, December 14.

A 38-year-old man suffered minor injuries during the altercation.

Enquiries into the incident are ‘ongoing’, with a 52-year-old man – from Widnes – who was arrested in connection with the incident having been released under investigation.

Detective constable Rob Catterall said: “Having reviewed the CCTV footage, we know that there were a number of people in the store at the time of the incident and I would ask them to get in touch.

“I’m also keen to hear from anyone who was in Widnes Road the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have any information which may aid our investigation.

“I ask anyone with any information, no matter how small, to call the team here at Cheshire Police on 101.”
