THE family of man who died after being hit by a car in Bebington earlier this week have paid tribute to "a loving husband, dad and grandad".

Edward 'Ted' Bevan, 77, sadly passed away following the incident in Broadway at its junction with Kings Road, on Tuesday afternoon.

The family statement read: "Today is a very sad and devastating day for our family.

"Our dad set off to walk into town and never came back.

"He was a real family man.

"A loving husband, dad and grandad and will be very sorely missed."

The driver of the car – a woman in her 80s – stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Sergeant Simon Duffy said: "If you were in the area of Broadway and Kings Road and witnessed the collision, or have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know as it may assist our enquiries.”
