THE number of new coronavirus cases being recorded in Warrington has plateaued around the 280-per-week mark, the latest Public Health England data shows.

During the seven days up to November 29, a total of 281 new cases were discovered in the town through testing.

This is considerably fewer than the 401 recorded in the previous week up to November 22, but similar to the 277 and 287 in the weeks up to November 28 and 27 respectively.

Warrington’s rate of new cases now stands at 133.8 per 100,000 people, which is the 147th highest in England.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government's testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent four days, November 30-December 3, has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

A majority of areas in England (266 out of 315) have seen a fall in case rates.

Here is the list in full, reading: rate of new cases in the seven days to November 29; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to November 29; rate of new cases in the seven days to November 22; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to November 22.
