THE M6 was closed after a van overturned during a crash on the Thelwall Viaduct this afternoon.
An accident involving three vehicles shut the northbound carriageway between junction 20 at Lymm and junction 21 at Woolston at around 4pm today, Wednesday.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene, but it is believed that nobody was seriously injured.
One lane was reopened at roughly 4.15pm, before the motorway fully reopened at around 6.15pm.
Queues of around seven miles back to junction 19 at Knutsford were reported as a result, with travel times through the affected area peaking at an estimated hour and 25 minutes.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Officers were called just before 4pm today, Wednesday, following reports of a collision involving a light goods vehicle and a white Kia Stonic and a white Mercedes on the M6 northbound between junction 20 and 21.
"It is not yet known if there are any injuries.
"Delays are likely."

The M56 eastbound was also affected, with tailbacks to junction 10 at Stretton.
Meanwhile, one lane of the M6 southbound was closed in the same area due to emergency repairs to a bridge joint.
