A MAN who caused serious injury to two passengers by dangerous driving as a car crashed into a tree after being chased by police has been jailed.
Andrew Gavin, of Ashtons Green Drive, Parr was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court for four years after being convicted of numerous offences.
The crash on Fleet Lane, Parr happened at 12.35am on Saturday, January 4 this year.
Police had been called to Derbyshire Hill Road to reports of a silver Audi A3 driving at speed.
The vehicle failed to stop for officers and, following a short pursuit, crashed with a street kerb and then went on to hit a tree on Fleet Lane. Gavin and the two passengers, a man and woman, were taken to hospital.
Both passengers sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries, police said.
Gavin was detained by officers following treatment.
Damaged trees and car parts could be seen on the roadside after the crash off Fleet Lane, a short distance from the junction with Concourse Way.

The 30-year-old was convicted of two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving; dangerous driving; possession of cocaine; of having £200 in counterfeit notes and of driving with false vehicle plates.
He was jailed for four years and also disqualified from driving for four years.
