A POPULAR pub in Croft has made the decision to close after members of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The Horseshoe Inn, in Smithy Lane, has confirmed that two employees have contracted the virus, despite following all the rules and guidance in place.

Public Health England has been informed of the cases and customers who have visited the pub recently are being told that they do not need to take any action unless they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace or develop symptoms of Covid-19

In a statement on Facebook, the pub said: “Unfortunately, we are having to close for a short period as despite following all rules and guidance, two of our staff members have had a positive Covid test.

“We have informed Public Health England and are awaiting further guidance.

“If you have visited us, you do not have to take further steps unless you develop symptoms or are contacted by Test and Trace.

“As always, our priority is our team and customers, and we are doing everything we can to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing.

“We will update when we can reopen and really appreciate everyone's understanding and support at this hard time.”
