THE trust that runs Macclesfield Hospital says three more of its coronavirus patients have died.

East Cheshire NHS Trust has reported three deaths from Covid-19 in the latest figures published today, October 29.

Two of the deaths were recorded on Monday, October 26, and one was recorded on Tuesday, October 27.

The three deaths from coronavirus are the first to be reported by East Cheshire NHS Trust in five days.

It takes the total number of coronavirus patients that have died at the trust’s sites to 155 since the pandemic began.

Deaths are recorded as being caused by coronavirus when they take place within 28 days of a positive Covid test.

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded in these figures, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.

Elsewhere in Cheshire, the Countess of Chester has also reported a new Covid death today, while Mid Cheshire Hospitals – which runs Leighton Hospital – reported its first Covid death in more than a week yesterday.

The victims are among 5,988 deaths now recorded across the north west’s NHS hospitals.
