A KENDAL man has been given a fine as well as a driving ban after exceeding the drug driving limit.

Jacob Lewis Johnson, 25, of Whinfell Drive, pleaded guilty to the offence dating back to March 26 where he was stopped on Abbey Road in Barrow and found to have a proportion of cocaine in his blood, higher than the legal limit.

Johnson was fined £150 and was given a 12 month driving ban, South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard.

The defendant also had to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £32 as well as pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

This totalled £267 he had to pay in full.

He was also initially charged with driving with Benzoylecgonine in his blood, exceeding the specified legal limit. However, this was withdrawn by the CPS in favour of his other offence.
