HALTON has recorded its first coronavirus death in seven weeks.
New figures from the Office for National Statistics show one person died of Covid-19 during the week up to September 25.
The figures include all deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, meaning it was either the primary cause of death or a contributing factor.
Since September 25, the borough has seen cases continue to rise rapidly along with further deaths, meaning the current Covid-19 death toll will be higher.
Increasing hospital admissions are also putting additional strain on NHS resources, meaning people with other conditions could also die as doctors battle the second wave
