TRADING standards officers in Halton have reported 'aggressive' rogue traders in the borough this week.

They have pretended to be from Halton Council and are telling residents that while fixing another roof, they have noticed loose tiles on their roof.

Both statements are probably not true say officers.

When the resident stated they did not require their roof tiles fixing, the traders became aggressive.

Halton Borough Council's Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: "Halton Trading Standards' advice is never to deal with cold callers, if you do need work carrying out, try to get written quotes from at least three different contractors before you decide on one."
