THE number of patients being cared for in hospital in Warrington and Halton for coronavirus remains low.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs both hospitals, confirmed that as of midday today, Thursday, it is caring for three inpatients who have tested positive for Covid-19 – the same number as last week.

There are also currently no coronavirus-positive patients in intensive care for a third week running.

The trust has discharged a total of 406 patients after recovering from Covid-19, including three over the past seven days.

Sadly, 139 have died, but no coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Warrington or Halton hospitals for more than two weeks.

To date, the trust has tested 19,938 inpatients and members of the community, of which 1,227 tested positive.

A total of 1,257 people have been tested by the trust over the past seven days, with 11 returning positive samples.

The attendance at Warrington Hospital’s A&E department over the past week is 1,619, with an average daily attendance of 231.
