ELEVEN men have been charged after a huge brawl erupted between guests at a wedding.

Up to 50 people were reportedly involved in fighting during the reception at the Daresbury Park Hotel on the evening of June 26 last year.

Wedding party members allegedly barricaded themselves inside the function room at the Chester Road site when police attended at around 11.30pm.

Dozens of officers were called to the scene, with 30 police cars rushing to the area according to eyewitnesses.

Warrington Hospital even declared a major incident, with senior management called in during the night to assist.

Ultimately, only three patients were taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries.

Cheshire Police confirmed at the time that they had received reports of a large-scale disturbance, and that a total of 12 suspects aged between 18 and 52 were arrested on suspicion of affray.

More than a year later, 11 men have now been charged with violent disorder in connection with the incident.

They are:

Robert Reilly, aged 27, of Milton Keynes

Brian Stokes, aged 23, of Crewe

Edward Stokes, aged 48, of Crewe

All 11 are due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court in order to face these counts tomorrow, Thursday.

Speaking after the incident, one hotel guest said: “It was all kicking off – there were police everywhere, it was really bad.

“I could see it all happening out of my window, there’s still a massive police presence and it’s all cordoned off.

“There is blood all over the floor in the corridor.”
