POPULAR venue The Hayloft has taken the decision to close its doors temporarily after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The cafe in Bold Heath near Penketh, which opened in 2017, says it will close for a minimum of 48 hours as a precaution.

The customer is reported to have visited the coffee shop on Thursday lunchtime and anyone affected will be contacted via the track and trace service.

Posting on Facebook this morning, a spokesman said: "None of the staff currently have any symptoms however we are asking those who may have been affected to get tested and follow guidance with regard to self isolating.

"We have extremely robust systems in place for Covid-19 and all table and chairs are thoroughly sanitised after each customer but we will be conducting a deep clean of the venue over the next 48 hours.

"We will update you on the situation as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. The Hayloft team."

It comes just two days after town centre pub The White Hart announced it had also shut temporarily after a coronavirus outbreak among its employees.
