HALTON has seen a small increase in the number of new coronavirus cases on the back of a larger rise earlier in the week.

Data published on Wednesday revealed that in the seven days up to August 30, 10 new cases were recorded in the borough.

The latest figures now show that between August 25 and 31, there were 11 new Covid-19 cases across Halton – an increase of one.

This takes Halton’s rate of infection from 3.9 new cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to August 24 to 8.5 as of yesterday, Thursday.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government's testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two) and published on the Government's coronavirus online dashboard.

Data for September 1-3 has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.
