A MAN has been charged after allegedly threatening his victim with a weapon in Widnes.

Police were called to Monarch Court, off Queens Avenue, shortly after midnight on Saturday, August 8.

While a 25-year-old man from Widnes suffered a minor head injury during the incident, he did not require hospital treatment.

Yan Marzelos, of Monarch Court, was arrested at the scene shortly afterwards.

The 41-year-old has since been charged with making threats with an offensive weapon, affray, causing criminal damage and assault.

He appeared before Warrington Magistrates Court today, Monday, via video link in order to face these charges.

Marzelos will now be brought before Liverpool Crown Court next month, and has been remanded into custody until that date.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “A 41-year-old man has been charged with four offences following an incident in Widnes.

“Yan Marzelos was arrested in Monarch Court, Queens Avenue, shortly after midnight on Saturday, August 8.

“He has since been charged with assault by beating, affray, causing criminal damage and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.

“The charges relate to an incident that occurred in Monarch Court shortly before Marzelos was arrested.

“A 25-year-old man from Widnes sustained a minor head injury as a result of the incident that did not require hospital treatment.

“Marzelos, of Monarch Court, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court via a video link on Monday, August 10.”
