A CARE home is offering free goodies to emergency workers who pass by.

Staff at Westvale House in Old Hall thanked an ambulance crew who brought a new resident for admission to the home.

The home gave the paramedics take away goodie bags filled with pens, note pads, sweets and Barchester branded re fillable drinking water bottles.

The crew set off on their long journey refreshed, on the hottest day of the year, back to their base in Blackpool.

Barchester care homes such as Westvale House give their support to all emergency services and essential visitors by providing refreshments and drinks to district nurses, police officers and other emergency services workers who don’t always have time to go home or back to their workplace on their break.

Charlotte Aspinall, general manager of Westvale House has extended the invitation.

She said: “To say thank you for all of the great work our emergency services do for us, we here at Westvale House are inviting all members of the police, ambulance and fire services to engage with us when they visit or if they are passing, to take their duty break on us ‘refreshments to go’ for free.”

Westvale House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.

Westvale House provides residential and nursing care for 61 residents from respite care to long term stays.
