Politicians in Dumfries and Galloway have expressed their sadness at the closure of the Annan branch of M&Co.
David Mundell, MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, said his thoughts were very much with the families and the staff affected by the Annan M&Co branch closure decision.
"The store has been a significant presence in the town centre for a number of years and the staff, together with the clothing choice they offered, will be greatly missed by their regular customers," he said.
"Sadly the news highlights the wider impact of Covid-19 and a decline in traditional retailing. Carving out a viable future for our town centres must be a high priority for all the agencies involved."
Dumfriesshire constituency MSP Oliver Mundell added: "Unfortunately this closure will leave another relatively large shop empty at a prominent location on Annan High Street.
"It is important every effort is made to fill that void and hopefully create new employment opportunities."
