A SYMBOLIC phoenix sculpture will form the centre piece of Rudheath Senior Academy’s £9 million transformation as the first stage nears completion.

The school has truly risen from the ashes in the form of an ambitions rebuild project, after the building was devastated by fire.

Extensive damage was caused to the Middlewich Road school following an arson attack in February 2018, but the incident has allowed for a complete remodel and modernisation.

The first phase, costing £3 million, has seen the construction of a new entrance, staff hub, staff toilets, office space and six new classrooms, as well as revamped garden space.

Northwich Guardian:

All the rooms have brand new furniture and state of the art ICT equipment.

Steve Docking, CEO of North West Academies Trust which runs the academy said: “The school is unrecognisable, and this is only the start.

“Phase two is now under way will be complete by August 31. This will see three new ICT rooms, a catering classroom, a revamped entrance and new learning resource centre.

“Phase three will start in September and will see the remaining areas of the school brought up to the same high standards.

“The changes will improve the environmental psychology for everyone. It is truly a great space.”

Funding for the dramatic rebuild was obtained via an insurance pay-outs and significant grants from the Government.

Rudheath Senior Academy Headteacher Lee Barber says that he cannot wait to welcome all pupils back to the school in September to restart their learning in such a high-standard facility.

Northwich Guardian:

“This marks the start of a new era for Rudheath,” he added.

“It feels like a different school, the new facilities will make teaching and learning a much better experience for everyone.

“I’m looking forward to getting everyone back to school in September so we can truly move forward with our plans to improve every aspect of education.”
