WE enjoyed an extended spell of sun last week as the UK soared in blazing temperatures.
Parts of the North-East rose above 30c with some of the highest temperatures being recorded on Teesside.
But the mini-heatwave is well and truly over as The Met Office forecasts rain for the rest of the week.
Here's the forecast for the region for the rest of the week:
Today
Generally murky with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle across all parts, along with low cloud covering hills.
Some brighter spells perhaps developing in the north in the late afternoon. Feeling cool. Maximum temperature 14 °C.
Tonight
Rain slowly making its way south, generally light but persistent.
Dry but staying rather cloudy in the north, with perhaps some bright spells developing in northernmost areas around dawn. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Thursday
A bright day with light winds, sunny spells and fair weather cloud.
A few isolated showers are possible in the west but largely dry for most. A largely clear evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Increasingly wet and windy on Friday, drier in the east though. Early drizzle clearing to sunshine on Saturday, warm.
Windy with patchy light rain on Sunday, perhaps sunny later.
Valid at time of publication a 4am on Wednesday, July 1
