ALMOST a quarter of Halton’s coronavirus deaths have come from the Halton Lea and Brookvale neighbourhood.

The area, which covers Palacefields and the western half of Brookvale, has suffered the highest COVID19 mortality rate in the Liverpool city region, possibly due to high levels of deprivation and the presence of two large care homes.

Nowhere else in the borough has suffered more than 20 deaths, though Ditton and Hale Bank have seen 12 and 11 people succumb to the virus respectively.
