THESE are tough times for us all.
But there is plenty to smile about as well.
Here is a list of our top three feel-good stories of the month of June.
First up is a coronavirus survivor finally being able to go home to his family.
'You all saved my life' says Coronavirus survivor after emotional family reunion
A CORONAVIRUS survivor has thanked Whiston Hospital for saving his life as he is finally reunited with his family after six weeks.
Christopher Williams, 54, thought he would never see his family again after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Whiston Hospital, critically ill with Covid-19.
Christopher had been feeling ill with the effects of the deadly virus for two weeks when things took a turn for the worse and he was rushed in to the Emergency Department struggling to breathe.
Christopher said: “I came to the hospital as a gasping wreck, I was terrified. But the staff here immediately took charge. The next thing I knew I was waking up in the Intensive Care Unit two weeks later.”
Next up is a brave 11-year-old girl whose quick actions saved her mum's life.
Schoolgirl praised for bravery after mum collapsed in bathroom
A COOL-HEADED schoolgirl who came to the aid of her mum who she found collapsed on the bathroom floor has been praised for her bravery.
Kayleigh Pilling was alone in the house with mum Michelle, 49, on the morning (June 15) after dad Chris had left for work.
Michelle, a merchandiser for a clothing manufacturer, who has been working from home through the lockdown, suddenly collapsed after she had been brushing her teeth.
However, Kayleigh, 11, did not panic and after calling her dad, phoned for an ambulance and followed the advice from the other end of the phone.
Her calmness and bravery have been praised and could have made all the difference in saving Michelle's life.
Inspiring mum trying to give a voice to people of colour
WHEN Bisi Osundeko first stepped foot in St Helens Town Hall three years ago she turned to her husband and said, ‘do you think I could become the first immigrant councillor in this town?’
Fast forward to May 2019 and Bisi was in the town hall again, only this time she was being elected to represent Parr on St Helens Council for the Labour Party.
It was an especially proud moment for Cllr Osundeko, who came to the UK from her home country of Nigeria 15 years ago to study at the University of Nottingham after being awarded a scholarship.
Cllr Osundeko is married to her husband, Mayowa, whom she met at university and is a mother of two children with complex disabilities.
