TEMPERATURES in the North-East soared for yet another day as the UK basked in weather as hot as Spain.

Darlington recorded temperatures of 27c, just a degree lower than what was recorded in Barcelona at midday.

Since the start of the week the region has baked in this year's highest temperatures yet.

And it doesn't look like it'll be coming to an end just yet.

The Met Office has said the region is set for another day of tropical temperatures tomorrow - here's the forecast for the region.

From this evening and tonight:

A fine, hot and sunny evening will be followed by another noticeably warm and muggy night with long clear spells.

There is the outside chance of thunderstorm across the Pennines during the early hours, but most parts staying dry. Minimum temperature 13c.

Friday:

A very warm and humid day, with thundery showers spreading north.

Torrential downpours and hail possible in places, but still plenty of brighter or sunny spells between any thundery showers. Maximum temperature 27c.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cooler and breezier Saturday and Sunday with some rain and showers, occasionally heavy. Monday may be drier but windy with a chance of showers.

Valid at time of publication at 4pm on Thursday, June 25.
