THERE have been no further coronavirus patient deaths in hospitals in County Durham, Darlington, Tyne and Wear and North Yorkshire.
The only Covid-19 death in the region was recorded on Teesside by the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
Latest figures published on Friday afternoon confirmed a total of 1,716 people have now died after testing positive for the virus since the outbreak began.
A spokesperson for NHS England said: "A further 46 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28, 221.
"Patients were aged between 12 and 97 years old. Two patients, aged 65 and 85, had no known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed."

Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 116 no change
York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 213 no change
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust - 79 no change
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change
