BUSINESS partners who provide science-based fun for kids have helped create a huge 'Covid snake' from painted pebbles.

Emma Holmes and Anna Berry, based in Grappenhall, set up the activity near Grappenhall Heyes Walled Garden, as a fun way to keep children entertained during lockdown.

Together, the pair run Science Kidz, which usually provides science camps, primary school visits and parties across the north west.

Since lockdown began, they have instead been publishing daily science tasks online, including painting rocks to turn into the 140-pebble long snake.

Warrington Guardian:

Emma explained: "We saw a similar stone snake online and myself my son, Oliver, age eight, love painting rocks.

"We’ve hidden some Science Kidz rocks earlier in the year to find and re-hide, but then when lockdown started we didn’t want people having to touch the pebbles, so we decided to make the Covid snake.

"The idea was that not only would it provide another activity that the children could get involved with, but also that it was a nice thing to see on people's daily exercise that would brighten their day, especially with all the negative things going on at the moment."

Science Kidz offers fun and interactive science education, as well as training for primary school teachers to deliver exciting science workshops for pupils.

Warrington Guardian:

"During lockdown we haven’t been able to do any of our normal activities, so to help parents who may be struggling with home schooling, we started to post regular activities that can be done with everyday materials that can be found at home," Emma explained.

"We wanted to prove to the children that science is all around us and that you don’t only see it in a laboratory, but everywhere.

"We’ve been sending out certificates for great science work that the children have shared with us."
