A MOTORIST has been charged with dangerous driving after a crash shut a main road for nearly two hours.
Liverpool Road was closed on Friday afternoon after an accident involving a Ford Transit van and a Hyundai i30 at the junction with St Mary’s Road in Penketh.
It is believed that no serious injuries were suffered, with no casualties having been taken to hospital.
Jim Loveridge was then arrested on nearby Station Road in Great Sankey at around 4pm in connection with the incident.
The 38-year-old, from Rochdale, has since been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop after a crash and driving without insurance.
He has been released on conditional bail and is now due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court next month.
