A WOMAN arresting on suspicion of murdering Blackburn student Aya Hachem has been released under investigation, police have confirmed.

The 33-year-old, from Bolton, was detained in the town on Wednesday on suspicion of murder and attempting to murder Pashar Khan but officers yesterday confirmed she has now been released.

Innocent passer-by Miss Hachem, 19, was fatally shot as she walked to Lidl supermarket on King Street near her home in Blackburn, on May 17.

The first of two shots fired from a passing vehicle hit a building but the second hit the teenager in the chest.

Officers believe Mr Khan, who owns the Quick Tyre and Quick Shine car wash business in Whalley Banks, Blackburn, was the true target of the shooting.

It is widely believed that a dispute between two tyre companies was the cause of the shooting.

Last week it was announced that five men and a woman are due to stand trial for the murder of Miss Hachem amd the attempted murder of Mr Khan next May.
