TWO Cheshire National Trust gardens are among the 29 locations which will reopen to the public next week.

The popular attractions had initially stayed open after the coronavirus lockdown was announced, as a place where people could still go for exercise.

But after crowds descended on the National Trust parks over March 21-22, the decision was made to close the facilities to the public altogether for safety reasons.

Now a limited number of National Trust parks are reopening from Wednesday June 3, with visitor numbers limited to a third of capacity and with admission only available by booking in advance.

Visitors arriving at reopening properties by car will be asked to show pre-booked tickets through their vehicle window before parking. Those arriving on foot will have bookings checked by a small team of staff who will adhere to social distancing.

The Cheshire gardens reopening are Lyme Park and Quarry Bank.

A statement on the National Trust website said: "We will only open those where we are able to maintain social distancing. Our reopening will be phased and gradual.

"A small number of our properties will open initially, and over the coming weeks we will open more.

"We ask all visitors to visit property web pages ahead of travelling for the latest information about what facilities are open and whether you need to book. Visitors to our gardens and parks must book beforehand.

"All car parks and properties in Wales remain closed."

The news comes as research shows Cheshire contains two of the most picturesque National Trust properties in the whole of the UK.

www.Sellhousefast.uk decided to find out the National Trust locations (to include estates, manors, and castles) captured most on Instagram.

To achieve the top 20, Sellhousefast.uk took over 200 sites listed on the National Trust website.

The number of hashtags for each site, either by name or name followed by the words national trust, were then individually counted.

Cheshire’s Tatton Park is the most popular National Trust house on Instagram.

The site, which will not reopen next week, is home to a historic estate with Tudor hall, neo-classical mansion, lavish gardens and a deer park. To date, it has been tagged over 77,000 times on Instagram.

And coming in at fifth place was Lyme park. Located south of Disley, near Stockport, the Cheshire park has been tagged over 46,000 times.
