A MIDDLEWICH couple have been left devastated after their beloved cat was stolen.

Spot was last seen curled up on the mat asleep outside the front door of their home off Nantwich Road on the evening of Wednesday, May 20.

The petite black and white rescue cat was recovering from cancer when she disappeared.

Alison David said: "She has been an utter delight for 15 years. She only had three legs and was a lovely little thing. We are both devastated."

The disabled cat was born feral and has lived with Alison and her family since she was nine weeks old.

"She was injured and lost her left hip and leg in a stable yard," said Alison. "By chance at the animal rescue a lady I knew asked if I would have her.

"She doesn't go out like normal cats. She sits in the front garden or follows you round the house."

Spot was chipped and the theft has been reported to the police and the RSPCA.

"I was doing little jobs on the front and she was curled up on the mat on the front door step," said Alison. "Once she fell asleep I went in to get some tea. I came back out at 6.30pm and she wasn't there.

"Two weighty plant pots had been knocked over."

Alison and her friends and neighbours have scoured sheds and gardens searching for Spot, a jet black and white neutered female with three white paws.

"Her front left paw is white with a perfect circle of black fur," said Alison. "It is very distinctive. Her tummy is white.

"If she was here now she'd be following me around. If we're cooking she comes in to see what it is. She was part of the family."

Alison says she has heard people talk about other cats going missing in Middlewich.

"We just want to find out what happened to her for peace of mind."
