Jet2 has warned customers to be on alert after a wave of scams circulated online.

The airline - which flies from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle - has urged everyone to 'remain vigilant with their personal information online'.

Here's what you need to know.

What have Jet2 said?

In a video posted to the official Jet2.com & Jet2holidays Facebook page, it said: "Now more than ever, we all need to stay safe and protect ourselves, it's just as important to do this online.

"So when talking to us about your flight or holiday on Social Media we can only discuss with the LEAD PASSENGER who will need to have their booking details to hand.

"Only use our official accounts for direct messaging (Facebook - @Jet2, Twitter - @Jet2tweets, Instagram - @Jet2pics).

"We will only email you using; @jet2.com, @jet2holidays.com, @jet2holidaysemail.com, @jet2email.com, @jet2citybreaksemail.com.

"CARD DETAILS - Our Contact Centre are the ONLY team who would ask for these and you'll have our Privacy process explained to you ahead of this. NEVER give your bank/card details over Social Media.

"Be vigilant with your personal data and if you want anything validating, just ask!"

When are Jet2 flights due to return?

Jet2 say flights are set to recommence on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

In statement, Jet2 said: "Due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we’ve decided to recommence our flights programme on June 17, 2020. If you're travelling before this date, unfortunately, your booking will be affected as our flights won't be operating.

"We know how much you were looking forward to a well-deserved break. So if you were due to travel before June 17, 2020 and have been affected by cancellations, you don’t have to miss out.

"You can now simply change your booking to a later departure date and you won’t have to pay an admin fee.

"To change your flight(s), the lead passenger on the booking will need to log in to Manage My Booking and make the changes before midnight on May 31, 2020 – we've extended the date due to popular demand.

"Please note, we may amend or remove this offer at any time."
