BUSINESSES in Knutsford and Winsford have teamed up to produce a video offering advice to people working from home for the first time during the coronavirus lockdown.

The video from the Forum of Private Business and Concert Networks is called The Practicalities of Working Remotely, and is presented by Mobberley freelance PR consultant Sophie Chadwick.

The idea for the video came from Knutsford PR and press photographer Jonathan Farber, with Sophie providing the script and Jonathan filming and editing the video.

Neil Hollands, the managing director of Concert Networks said: “The current circumstances are going to present varying challenges for businesses, and there are going to be some tough weeks, maybe months, ahead.

“Now more than ever it’s vital for organisations to stand shoulder to shoulder. With the right technology, we can help ensure the switch to remote working is as seamless as possible.

“If companies can continue to communicate with their clients and colleagues, they stand a much stronger chance of continuing to thrive.”

Sophie Chadwick said: “As a freelancer I’m used to working from home – it’s my every day.

“Working from home with a whole family in the house, however, is a whole different story. It’s even more important to stick to a strict routine to remain productive.

“By taking regular breaks and making sure I have daily phone or video chats with my network, I’m able to remain focused and connected.”

In the video Sophie says: “Businesses everywhere are preparing for a culture shift as employers attempt limit staff exposure to the coronavirus by asking them to work from home.”

Ian Cass, the managing director of the Forum of Private Business said: “We wanted to put something out for members who had staff working from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and we did a joint venture as we have the reach to more than 30,000 businesses.

“The video is aimed at getting useful information to all the people who are working from home who wouldn’t usually be and have no previous experience of doing so, so it’s aimed at new homeworkers.”
