A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shocking meat cleaver attack in Sankey Bridges on Saturday.
The ‘horrific assault’ happened at around 11.15am on Saturday – with a 35-year-old man from Widnes suffering serious injuries after being hit in the head with the weapon.
He presented himself at Warrington Hospital, but has since been released.

Today, Thursday, detectives have arrested a 35-year-old man from Stockport on suspicion of attempted murder.
It follows the publication of CCTV earlier this week.
He is currently in police custody being questioned by detectives.
