Minchinhampton RFC U15s grabbed the bragging rights over rivals Stroud in a game played before the coronavirus outbreak.

After an early penalty, Archie Powis went over on the left opening an 8-0 lead. Stroud came back, but could not score before the break. Immediately after the restart, Beau Brayham found a gap which was converted by Ioan Jones for a 15-point cushion.

Sam Grimsted soon dived over from short range before Stroud narrowed the gap to 20-5. Jones then scored from Powis’s quick tap to restore the 20-point lead. But Stroud rallied and scored two more tries of their own from short range to leave the visitors the winners by 25-19.

Elsewhere, Minch travelled to Tewkesbury, depleted by injury to only fourteen.

They showed excellent spirit in the rain with one player loaned by the hosts.

An early attack down the right saw Wilf Mylechreest unselfishly offload to Josh Webb to open the scoring. Hugo Oliver then made a break from which Ioan Jones scored taking the visitors into the interval 14-0 up. As the weather worsened Minch kept up the pressure and a grubber kick was recycled to Archie Powis who scored from close range. Webb was denied his second, but then a long pass found Joe who scored against his team-mates. Webb then gathered a kick ahead and ran 50 metres to touch down under the posts before then catching a deft Jones chip to secure his hat-trick and 38-0 victory.
