A THEATRE company which runs a stage school for more than 250 children and young people has set up live Facebook sessions due to coronavirus fears.

Left heartbroken at having to close his stage school doors, Andrew Curphey who runs Andrew Curphey Theatre Company in Runcorn, decided to set up ACTC TV, starting tonight at 6pm.

He said: “Unfortunately this week I had to make the decision to temporarily close my doors until we are told it is safe to reopen.

“My stage school is built on my passion providing children and young people with, not only a space to be creative, but to also socialise, have fun and ultimately smile.

“Their normal and balance is up in the air and I want to fight back and create a platform that they can still escape to once a week.”

Broadcasting from his living room, Andrew said it was important in this time of uncertainty to boost everyone’s morale and try and keep a smile on people’s faces.

“This will be a weekly Facebook Live that will take place every Thursday from 6pm until we reopen our doors. It will be streamed live on our Andrew Curphey Theatre Company Facebook page and then will be uploaded to YouTube for those who don’t have social media.

“The aim is to provide a fun, interactive weekly catch up for our students, parents, families, friends and beyond.”

Andrew who has starred in pantos such as Snow White, was commissioned by Halton Borough Council and Mersey Gateway to create and direct a performance piece which was presented to Her Majesty The Queen.

He has classes across Halton, Warrington and Frodsham.
