There’s good news for residents of one of Wirral’s most loved villages this week, after a community campaign succeeded in bringing back a Post Office service.

The popular Post Office, described as a ‘hub for the village’ by a local councillor, closed following a robbery, causing dismay for residents.

Councillor Cherry Povall (Conservative, Clatterbridge Ward) said: “Sadly, the mindless criminals caused our local Post Office to close.

“The village has been without a service since last year and many of the residents, including those who are less mobile, have been pushing for the Post Office to act.

“I’m delighted that the Village Hall will, from next week, be offering a Post Office service and congratulate all those involved in making this happen.”

The Post Office service will operate on Tuesdays 1-3pm and Thursdays 10-12 noon starting Tuesday March 24.

Cllr Povall added: “While in the current pandemic, there won’t be as many people using the new service, I hope that, once it is over, people use it so that it becomes a permanent feature in the village.

“If there is enough demand, let’s hope the Post Office extend the hours it is available.”
