A Wirral high school has partially closed its doors due to a staff shortage.

Co-Op Academy in Bebington released a letter to parents this morning, advising that as of Wednesday March 18, the school would only be open for Year 11 and Year 13 students.

The statement says that staff absence means that they are not able to cover classes safely.

Headteacher Ms Catherine Kelly said: “I have the full support of the Co-op Academies Trust in taking this action, which has not been taken lightly but the safeguarding of our students is paramount.

“Students who do not have access to the internet should collect paper resources from the school office by the end of today.

“Students who are already at home should either access online resources or come into school to pick up packs of work. Please see the school website for online learning resources.”
