AN investigation has been launched after shots were fired at a house in Wallasey.

Police were called to the property in Lea Road at 9.15pm on Thursday following reports of damage to its front window.

There was no-one inside the property at the time and no suggestion anyone has been injured.

House-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

Detectives are also looking to trace the occupants of a silver coloured car that was seen in the street at the time of the incident.

Chief Inspector Matt Smith said: "The property was empty at the time but this was obviously a reckless act which could have had a different outcome.

"Our enquiries are at an early stage but we are keen to speak to anyone in the area around Lea Road who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone in the local community who believes they have captured something significant on their car's dash-cam or CCTV.

"Firearms have no place on our streets and we will take action to find the people who are responsible for carrying them or using them to cause fear or intimidation in our communities.

"If you have information please come forward and speak to us or give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
