A WINCHESTER road will remain closed this weekend as emergency gas repairs continue.
The B3044 Stockbridge Road between Chilbolton Avenue and Bereweeke Road was shut on Tuesday to allow for work to be carried out to a gas mains pipe.
SGN, the company that looks after the network, has now said the work will not be completed before the weekend and the street will stay blocked off.
A notice on the organisation’s website details that the road could be closed until Wednesday (February 26).
The post adds: “We’re working to keep local homes and businesses safe and warm by carrying out urgent repairs to our gas network.
“Stockbridge Road in Winchester is temporarily closed in both directions, between Chilbolton Ave and Bereweeke Rd, for urgent repairs to our gas network.
“It's too early to say how long repairs will take however, they're likely to continue throughout this week.”
A diversion has been put in place via Stoney Lane, Andover Road and Bereweeke Road.
