CHESHIRE Young Carers has thanked West Cheshire Athletic Club for a £100 donation raised from a Christmas Fun Morning.

Graham Phillips, managing director of Cheshire Young Carers, based in Ellesmere Port, revealed he was 'delighted and very grateful' to the Ellesmere Port Sports Village-based organisation.

He said: "We really appreciate and thank everyone at West Cheshire Athletic Club who helped, took part and donated at the Christmas Fun Morning event.

"Cheshire Young Carers support children and young people who care for a parent or sibling suffering from physical disability, mental health problems or substance misuse and similar impairments.

"We provide activities that help to improve the mental health and well-being of these young people and reduce the negative effects of the caring responsibilities so they can have fun and spend time with friends.

"Unfortunately, there is no statutory funding available, so we depend solely on donations from businesses and clubs who fundraise for us, without which we could not do what we do.

"These funds will contribute towards delivery of the Easter School Holiday Programme this year, where we will be organising lots of fun trips and days out for the young carers so they can enjoy a day away from their everyday pressures and have fun being children."
