THE Marine Rescue Unit (MRU) was called out to rescue a person from the River Mersey at Woodside Ferry Terminal yesterday (Friday). The Search and Rescue team were also in attendance.
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The Marine Fire One rescue boat was mobilised at 3.13pm, and the casualty was recovered to the boat at 3.22pm.
"The casualty was conscious and breathing and was taken to the MRU station at the Pier Head, Liverpool, where the Search and Rescue Team assisted with removal of the casualty to land.
"The casualty was treated for cold water immersion and handed over to NWAS paramedics.
"The crew mobilised, kitted up, launched Marine Fire One and retrieved the casualty in just nine minutes."
