GREEN-fingered rail fans can have a blooming lovely day out travelling on one of the world’s most luxurious trains from Warrington to the Royal Horticultural Society’s Cardiff Flower Show in April.
Liveried stewards will welcome passengers on board the Northern Belle with a cocktail before they sit down to a three-course brunch on the way to the Welsh capital.
Afterwards there will be a champagne reception followed by a five-course dinner with wine during the return journey.
The Northern Belle, seven carefully restored 1930s-style Pullman carriages hauled by a vintage locomotive, is Britain’s answer to the iconic Orient Express.
One of the carriages was once used by the Queen on the Royal Train.
The train will set out from Preston at 8am on Saturday, April 18 before picking up more passengers at Wigan at 8.15, Warrington Bank Quay at 8.45 and Chester at 9am.
Passengers not wanting to attend the flower show can instead visit the city’s castle, take a boat trip round Cardiff Bay or just soak up the city’s soul.
It is due back in Warrington at 9.35pm.
