WORK has started on building 16 affordable rental homes in Runcorn.

And developers are looking for a labourer and two apprentices to join the team.

Plus Dane’s Strategic Partnerships Manager, Usman Ashiq said: “Building new homes is a big part of what we do at Plus Dane, but it is just as important that we create opportunities that really benefit local communities and have a real social value, like being able to create meaningful work and training opportunities.”

There will be an open day on Monday, March 9 between 11am and 1pm at the new Community Shop in Priory House, Northway. Training dates follow on there on Monday, March 23 to Friday March 27.

The new development, in the Tanhouse area of Runcorn, is scheduled for completion in spring 2021.

Liz McCloskey, senior community engagement officer at ENGIE, said: “We are delighted to bring our expertise to this development, but are also excited to potentially help people take their first steps into the regeneration and construction world, by offering a variety of work and training opportunities.

“As a business, ENGIE is focused on working with partners to improve the environment we live in. We want to impact and support the communities we work in and the people we work with, so are always looking to see how we can leave a lasting impression in the areas where we are delivering projects.”

Plus Dane customers are encouraged to apply and all Runcorn residents are invited to attend the open day.

Apprenticeship opportunities are open to applicants of all ages and genders. To find out more about the training programme and job opportunities, please contact Plus Dane’s Engagement & Partnerships Team on 01260 288422.
