A FIELD is being used as a 'scramble track' for youngsters.

Residents say the removal of a car park fence at Wigg Island in Runcorn has allowed people access to the site.

One resident sid: "One day in spring last year workmen from the council appeared and removed it all.

"I phoned the council asking why, and was told that it had been deemed unsafe but that it was being replaced and the replacement had been ordered but they couldn't give a date for the delivery or fitting of the new one.

"The result of this is that the young people who congregate there at night think it is great to use the adjoining field as a scramble track for their cars.

"The car park is covered with mud and at least one car has been so damaged that it was abandoned at wigg island and had to be removed by the council."
