WORK to refurbish Birchwood Fire Station has been given the go ahead.
The programme of renovations at the Ordnance Avenue base will also see the gymnasium converted into a base for Cheshire Police.
Officers are set to leave their current base on Delenty Drive to share the fire service building.
All existing windows are to be replaced while the front elevation will receive new render and horizontal timber cladding finishes to the existing facing brick.

The existing roofs will be refurbished with existing finishes replaced where required.
There will also be a general internal refurbishment.
The scheme was approved by council planners last week.
The move is part of a widespread programme of refurbishment by Cheshire Fire at other fire stations across the county.
