A HAMPSHIRE schoolboy is to star in a new time travelling adventure set to be shown on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Hounsdown School pupil Ethan Jackson will appear in The Luna Squad, hotly tipped as the must see new adventure movie and series in the vein of The Goonies, Back to the Future, Stand by Me and Stranger Things.

The 12-year-old from Marchwood beat 5000 other hopefuls to the role in his first ever professional acting audition.

He will play cool kid Max, the skater boy with no fear who everyone wants to be. He is one of the adventurous gang of eight to star in the show.

Mum Neesa Jackson told the Daily Echo: "Ethan is having the time of his life being a part of this show. His real life definitely mirrors the role he has been cast in as he is a street dance champion, plays for the kestrels basketball team and loves to practice tricks on his scooter.

"He's not done any acting before and I was worried he might be a bit unprepared, but he took to it like a duck to water. He is absolutely loving it and the part could have been written for him.

"I'm so proud of him. He puts his mind to something and manages to make it happen. It's crazy really."

Filmed mainly in Kent, including in a cave network, The Luna Squad tells the story of a young school girl and budding explorer Ashley, who finds a mysterious map inside an old comic book following a breaking news story, reporting a UFO sighting. Persuading her friends to join her, they sneak out of their bedroom windows and go on a hunt to find the crash site, leading to them going back in time and having the adventure of a lifetime.

A transmission date is yet to be set as producers are awaiting a possible commission from the BBC.

The lead cast members will also record a soundtrack to accompany the series and undertake a UK concert tour.

Ethan decided to take up acting and started auditioning for extra work after taking a break from his street dance success for the first time since he was four years old.
