A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads after overturning his car in a crash.

Peter Curry, from Thelwall, was more than twice the legal limit when he flipped his vehicle only metres away from his home.

Warrington Magistrates Court heard that the 37-year-old’s Ford Focus was left on its roof after the accident on Thelwall New Road shortly after 2pm on Saturday, December 28.

No other vehicle was involved in the incident, which occurred between the junctions of Buntingford Drive and Prestbury Drive.

Curry, of Stanton Road, was breathalysed and found to have 74mg of alcohol in his system per 100ml of breath.

The legal drink driving limit is 35mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

He admitted drink driving on Thursday, January 16, and was banned from the roads for 20 months.

Curry, who was uninjured after the crash, was also handed a six-month community order – including a six-week curfew from 11pm to 8am and a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to four days.

Magistrates ordered the defendant to pay a £90 victim surcharge plus £85 court costs.
