POLICE have been conducting land searches in Prescot in the wake of Monday's shooting.

Officers carried out an open land search in green areas in Prescot on Tuesday (January 21).

Officers say they recovered several weapons from the searches.

On Monday afternoon, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen near a housing estate on Station Road.

A police investigation is underway and a large cordon was in place in the area.

In a post on Tuesday, Knowsley Police said: "In response to the recent incident in the Prescot area, our mobile police station has been parked on Cables Retail Park. If you would like to come and discuss anything with us please stop by!

"Also our Local Policing team conducted an open land search on some local green areas. Here we recovered several weapons. More harmful items off the streets."
